absolutum dominium

that my birthday has come and gone.

it was great though. on tuesday night we went to shabusen, this korean/japanese buffet restaurant, on esther's suggestion. there were over 20 of us; the 3 law students, this sem's exchange students, and 4 of the international students. there were even people i'd never seen before.

i sat opposite szemin and esther, and in between huey and zineng, whom i met for the first time on tues. we ordered so much food tt it was c-ra-zy. we ordered 30 pieces of each type of salmon, tuna and spicy tuna sashimi, so much sushi and rolls, all the bbqed meats - beef, shortribs, pork, and even mussels and sotong -, the karage and the teriyaki salmon, beef and chicken, gyoza, tempura (all kinds), miso soup and even oyster motoyaki...

we ate so much tt i was literally stuffed, esp with meat. oh anyway it wasn't just my birthday, boon ping was also celebrating his birthday today. diana, ben and yunsong - yes! he came back!!! - bought me a nutella and coconut flavoured gelato cake tt was uber-yummy, while boon ping got a chocolate cream cake. and they also bought me ice wine and i got a drink. :) it was so sweet of everyone.

i REALLY feel so loved. :)

zineng and i. zineng as a taste for vintage shirts. it's so cool tt he loves shopping at vintage places and getting interesting buys. actually a lot of the guys here are really into shopping and good designs, fits and fashions. i think they know a lot more about clothes than i do, to be honest.

anyway after tt we returned to ubc. i needed to go type out my homicide discussion point and hand it in, so i returned to my room to do tt, while the really huge group split up into 2 - the gage group with the bailey's, kahlua and grand marnier, and the ritz group with yunsong's sake. they were going to drink and play bridge.

well, i finished my homicide thing early, so i decided to join the ritz group at christabel's place. diana, yunsong and ben were there, and so was jon altho he left early. yunsong really hit it off with christabel, but the bridge game had long degenerated into a talk cock session by the time i'd entered the picture.

actually, it wasn't really a talk cock session. we'd discussed things from feministic views abt girls (provided by diana) to relationships, blogs, schools and music, and even books to read, where ben was highly recommending reading milton's paradise lost. even tho it's almost as thick as the bible, apparently.

well... we def were talking about a lot of things, coz we only ended the session after 4am, and only coz yunsong needed to get some sleep before catching his flight back to singapore on wed morning.

so i slept at 6.30am on tues night. oh speaking of which, my new york photolog is up and linked to my side bar. i could finally get tt done after yunsong transferred his pics to my hard drive. :)

on wed i woke up after 3pm. it was only enough time for me to get ready to go out shopping with siang sheng, szemin and boon ping. we went downtown coz they wanted to check out winner's and robson. szemin got a pair of heels from winner's, boon ping got a track jacket from zara and a pair of vintage converse from boy's co, and ss bought his first ever g-star raw jeans for CAD $159. which is fucking expensive, but very cheap for g-star raw jeans. but my god... why do brands like 7, sacred and true religion cost so fucking much? man.

i left them around 7pm after grabbing a smoked beef, mushrooms, swiss cheese and spinach crepe from cafe crepe, coz tonight was the night i was watching beauty and the beast - the musical.

i guess after broadway, my standards are a bit too high coz nothing ever matches up to broadway (although broadway in chicago was a-mazing), but it was still very nicely done, and it did really touch me, esp when belle appeared in tt famous yellow gown. it was so sweet. i love beauty and the beast. it's my all-time fave disney movie (i can't say tt enough) and it will always be so. :)

i came back close to 12am, and then being bored, i decided to finish watching all the remaining episodes of grey's anatomy back to back on my comp. so i slept at 5 am after watching 3 episodes of grey's anatomy.

which brings me to today - waking up at 2.30pm. boy, and you'd think i don't have school. i missed both my classes on wed. fortunately for me thurs is my free day. so today i met christabel for lunch at the chinese restaurant at the village coz she wanted to talk to me, and then i met diana and sulynn for dinner back at totem. and then boon ping, kelvin, siang sheng and later edward managed to find us and it was back to doing the whole 2-hour dinner/talk cock session in the caf again.

and since then, it's been back to my room to watch donnie darko, more grey's anatomy (and scrubs), and planning for my spring break trip. ben, alvin and i were supposed to go to cuba, but alvin can't make the dates, so now we're going to mexico. but ben doesn't want "uber-batam", so we still have to look at more packages.

but oh goodie. tomrorow ben's gonna buy lonely planet and we can decide what we want to do. how fun! :)

i can't wait. i fucking need the sun, man. the sun and the spray of warm salty sea water on my face again. and of wearing shorts and singlets and slippers again, too.
