we are our own downfall

we are intelligent thinking beings. or so we tell ourselves.

yet we willingly drink ourselves into mindless stupors, till we lose all sense of self, till we stumble drunk and blind into lamposts and knock ourselves out. we bring ourselves lower than the animals we pretend to be superior to, in scenes of ugliness and abject despair.

we tell ourselves we want to live and to feel life, yet we the so-called believers of free choice and free will, subject ourselves to the chains of money, of societal acceptance, conforming to the mass stereotypes like mindless unthinking sheep.

we seem to want to be dominated, to be owned. why do women succumb to the battered women syndrome, to want to portray themselves as weak, helpless, dependant and beholden to abusive monsters who call themselves husbands? why do we entrench helplessness in our laws; seek to perpetuate the so-called weaker woman in our judicial system?

we work our asses off like dogs day in day out year in year out to repay debts tt tie us down our entire lives. we wonder why our lives suck so bad; and yet we allow a government tt to tell us day in day out tt it was they who brought us from a so-called third world to a first. a government tt has done everything with our hard-earned money and our sweat and blood, and for tt one-time effort expects us to be continually grateful and beholden to them forever and ever amen and to bow down to them and kiss their feet.

we allow ourselves to take the shit tt we put ourselves through, through work or school or play, because we're not prepared to stand and fight, to make tt conscious effort to be our own person and to recognise tt we can control our own thoughts, actions, paths and destinies.

so bringing this analysis to its logical conclusion...
