lynn canyon park
it was a beautiful day in vancity today. one of those rare summer-like days with those rare summer-like qualities. clear blue blue skies, bright warm sunshine, cheeriness and brightness over a spread of green grass and plants and trees and a backdrop of blue snow-capped mountains.
almost like summer. except for the winter-type chill.
we went to lynn canyon park today, diana, ben and i. was one of those last min decisions made when you wonder what else you could do on a lovely saturday afternoon other than go downtown and shop and eat for the umpteenth time again.
and it wasn't a decision to regret.
we took a bus to waterfront, and the seabus across to north van. from there we had to transfer buses to get to the park. i was highly sleepy because i had not slept well the prev night and in fact, woke up far far too early for my liking. but tt said between alternating between periods of 'highs' and 'lows' and repeating the line "fitter, happier, more productive" (from radiohead's 'ók computer'), nonetheless i was not deterred from trying on both diana's beanie as well as my own cap in an attempt to look retarded.

i think it worked. ;)
anyway yep! we got off the bus stop to the lynn canyon park sign...

um... advertising the cafe. yes yes. we still can't get enough of coffee. damn starbucks. i still swear they cheated my marnie and replaced my full espresso shot with more steamed milk in my cafe latte. tt has to be the reason why i was still feeling so sleeeeeepy even after my caffeine fix.
but yesh. i digress. after a fair bit of walking, we found a better sign! wahaha.

lynn canyon park! <-- see? see? i've been to lynn canyon park! wahahahaha.
...RIGHT.
ok, aaaanyway... lynn canyon park is a really pretty pretty place. they've got a suspension bridge!

ben (looking very bewildered) and diana on said suspension bridge!
and from tt bridge you can see this nice little waterfall below.

yesh. and if you walk a small ways from the bridge, you come to this bubbling stream with clear green waters. suitable for swimming in in summer, where you can splash your way to a waterfall further in.

diana with said stream.

that's the still-er part with the green waters.
this is how the rest of the stream looks like.

and this is how the rocks line the stream...

e.g. how to cross the stream.
we did tt. we crossed the stream.
well. ben went first. him with the genetic pre-disposition to stream-crossing (e.g. long legs) had little problems with the rocks. me? i had a major issue getting my climacool (read: *extremely* holey) shoes wet with icy stream water, so i chose to risk hypothermia, take off my shoes, and cross the stream bare-footed. diana chose not to take off her shoes, but she was quite unlucky. she slipped and fell off the rocks into the water while trying to cross. tt was scary! thank god she was alright tho. and so was her phone.
but yeah. this is diana as she is crossing the stream.

or just starting out.
and this is another fitter, happier picture of diana.

while waiting for her wet shoes and socks to dry in the sun.
speaking of wet shoes and socks, i had to wait for mine to dry as well. which gave ben a chance to take yet another unglam photo of me. but because the score is evened... ok lah i'll publish it.

unglam cham-cheng char bor roll-up-pants-legs photo. heh heh.
and of course, who can forget:

*HAPPY FEET!!!*
wahaha.
ooh now let's come to the other unglam photos:
you can take the ah beng out of singapore...

but you can't take singapore out of the ah beng! (or is it the other way around?)
and once again...

caught in the act!
ben complains tt i only seem to want to take photos when he is smoking. hey, it's not my fault tt everytime i wanna take photos... you just *happen* to be lighting up. heh heh heh.
but yeah. we did spend a substantial amount of time nuahing on the rocks around the stream waiting for our socks and shoes to dry. yeah, me and ben finally did cross the stream at some point in time...

tt's us waving to diana from the other side of the stream.
...but for the most part we were content to laze around on one sight and watch dogs and dog owners play around the stream.
after lynn canyon park, we had beavertails at lonsdale quay, as well as a korean hot pot lunch on robson street.

the hot pot on robson's! no meat in this one *big sigh*, but we were still really full after lunch otherwise.
and after lunch it was on to the casino to test our black jack skills. i am still not a very on par black jack player. still gotta get a little more exposed.
but for the record, tt was how my sat went. :)
now playing: hotel costes - cafe de flor
